Acron presents calcium nitrate soy nutrition trial at BASF Field Day

· Acron · Products and chemicals

Acron presented soy nutrition systems at a BASF Field Day held at the Partisan Agricultural Firm demonstration sites in Tambovsky district, Amur region, attended by around 70 managers and experts. A joint trial on the Sentiabrinka soybean variety, sown on 29 May at 120 kilograms per hectare, compared ammonium nitrate with Acron's CALINKA® calcium nitrate fertiliser containing boron. The trial aims to help soybeans tolerate dry weather and raise yields, with results to be shared with participants later.

Why it matters

Adoption of calcium nitrate with boron as a soybean nutrition option in the Far East could shift local fertiliser demand away from ammonium nitrate-based schemes if trial results confirm yield and drought benefits.

Market context

Ammonium nitrate and calcium nitrate are both nitrogen fertilisers, but they differ in their secondary nutrient content and handling properties. Ammonium nitrate is widely used on cereals, oilseeds and other field crops, and its demand tracks planting areas and grain prices. Calcium nitrate supplies nitrogen together with calcium, and boron is a micronutrient that supports flowering and pod set in legumes such as soybeans. Soybean growers, especially in regions with dry weather, look for nutrition programmes that help plants cope with moisture stress and maintain yields. Shifts in which products growers choose can change regional fertiliser volumes, pricing and competitive positions among producers. Field trials like this one are an early step, and their practical weight depends on the results, which have not yet been shared.
