Elkem Silicones launches room-temperature curing silicone adhesive for HVAC assemblies
Elkem's Silicones division has introduced BLUESIL ESA 8352 A&B, a two-component silicone adhesive that cures at room temperature for HVAC assemblies. The adhesive bonds primelessly to metals and plastics, withstands continuous temperatures up to 180°C with peaks to 220°C, and carries UL 94 HB certification. It has a handling time of about 25 to 30 minutes and will be showcased at JEC World 2026 in March 2026.
Room-temperature curing and primeless adhesion on metals and plastics could lower HVAC manufacturers' assembly energy use and production costs, shifting demand toward specialty silicone adhesives.

Market context
Silicone adhesives are polysiloxane-based sealants and bonding agents valued for their heat resistance, flexibility and durability over wide temperature ranges. Two-component systems cure through a chemical reaction once the parts are mixed, which lets manufacturers join components without external heat. Demand for these materials comes mainly from heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, where joints must tolerate repeated thermal cycling, along with electronics, transport and construction. Adhesives that bond to metals and plastics without a separate primer can remove a process step from assembly lines, which tends to reduce labor, handling and energy costs. Over time, such products can shift some bonding work away from mechanical fasteners, welding or solvent-based systems. Specialty silicone suppliers compete on cure speed, temperature rating and certification, so new formulations can change how buyers weigh price against performance.
