Proman and Dumore launch 100% methanol-powered trucks in Trinidad
Proman and Dumore Enterprises have launched four 100% methanol-powered Geely trucks in Trinidad, described as the first such vehicles on the road outside China. Dumore has operated the Farizon G2 trucks on public and private roads since mid-July 2026, covering over 17,000 km and refuelling 41 times at Proman's Point Lisas facilities in Couva. The trucks have consumed over 20 tonnes of methanol and avoided about 3.7 tonnes of CO₂e versus diesel, and the pilot will run for about 100,000 km.
Creates a new local methanol demand stream for Trinidad producers and positions the island as a supplier for transport fuel, subject to TTBS revising fuel standards to allow methanol blends and a 100% methanol standard.

Market context
Methanol is a basic petrochemical building block, used mainly to make formaldehyde, acetic acid, MTBE and other intermediates for plastics, adhesives, paints and construction materials. It is also used as a fuel, either blended into gasoline or, in higher concentrations, burned directly in modified engines. Demand for methanol therefore tracks construction, housing, automotive and consumer goods activity, while fuel use adds a more policy-driven outlet. Trinidad and Tobago is an established methanol exporter, with its output largely shipped to overseas derivative producers, so local consumption as a transport fuel is a small but new domestic channel. Pure methanol fuel use depends on engine certification and fuel standards, so adoption across the market will hinge on regulatory approval of methanol blends and fuel specifications. For buyers and investors, the pilot is best read as a demonstration of an alternative fuel outlet rather than a material change to global methanol supply or prices.
